Things You'll Need:

  • Different items according to what instrument you are making
  1. Step 1

Besides the basic use of pots and pans with wooden spoons there are many ways you can make homemade musical instruments. It is fun for you and your child to make. Here are a couple.

  2. Step 2

    Drum

Empty oatmeal container, coffee can, or a popcorn tin or any other similar item
    Decorative items they choose
    Pencil
Construction Paper or decorative wrapping paper
    Crayons or markers
    Duct tape

  3. Step 3

Tape the top of the container down with your duct tape.
let your children decorate over the construction paper with the markers or crayons. They can place any desired item on the paper such as stickers, gems, wood cutouts, yarn, anything they want or just draw on it or paint. Let them use their imaginations.
Tape the paper onto the container that you are using.
Then they are ready to go, you can make a few different ones so that they can have different sizes to play with. Give them some sticks or wooden spoons to use to hit the drums.

  4. Step 4

    Horn

    Paper towel holder
    wax paper
    rubber band
    crayons or markers
some decorative items that can use

  5. Step 5

Cover on end of the paper towel holder with the wax paper and keep it in place with the rubber band.
Let them decorate their tube any way they wish.
Poke a few holes along one side of the tube.
Now they can play by blowing into the open end of the tube

  6. Step 6

    Guitar

Empty shoe box or similar sort of box
4 or more Rubber bands (different widths)
    Crayons, markers or paints
    Decorative items they choose

  7. Step 7

Cut a hole in the top of the box.
Stretch the rubber bands around the box.
Different widths of rubber band will create different sound pitches. The thinner and tighter bands make higher-pitched sounds.
Let your child decorate the box however they wish.
You can place a ruler to come out of the top part if you choose. So it looks like a guitar.
    Let them play!
