Correct Diagnosis.This can be crucial time in parenting for both the child and the parent. Being patient with your child and trying different techniques makes it better for the both of you. We sometimes think our child is teething and they can have a cold or virus so make sure you have your child checked for the correct diagnosis.

Step 2
Chewing on teething rings helps the itchy, sore gums and assist with the tooth breaking through. Freezing the teething ring also numbs the sore gums. Popsicle or freeze pops are good too. Just try not to feed your baby too much sugar it start' s early dental problems.

Give your baby ibuprofen for pain. Ibruprophen is used to treat pain not fever. You can also use a oral gel such as "Oragel" to numb the sore area.

on 10/9/2008 Actually, freezing teething rings isn't recommended as they can do more harm for the baby than good. Just chilling them in the refrigerator is sufice. Any pediatrician will tell you DO NOT give a baby a frozen teething ring.
