Things You'll Need:
- Appetite
- Money
-
Step 1
Breakfast. If you didn't eat before entering the park, stop at the Carnation Cafe on Main Street. Here you can get a jumbo coffee and sugar boost from the Giant Chocolate Muffins or the Cinnamon Rolls. There are other choices at the walk-up counter including fruit cups, yogurt, and bagels, but to me these 2 indulgences are quite worth the calories and the money (about $4 each).
Today is the day to say, "The heck with it, I'm on vacation!" and start your day with a hearty "YUMMMMMM, you've got to try this". -
Step 2
Mid-Morning Snack. You're coming down off that sugar buzz and need something to tide you over til lunch. Head over to Adventureland for the Bengal Barbeque Kabobs. They're relatively healthy and very tasty. That protein will carry you through the next few rides and they're pretty low in fat, carbs, and even cost. Bon appetit!

Step 3
Lunch. Your big decision here is, sit-down and be served or stand-up and order?
If you prefer to be waited on, your best bet is the Blue Bayou. Set inside the Pirates of the Carribbean, this restaurant's best offerings are their famous Monte Cristo Sandwich ($19) and tasty crab cakes ($12). But their Louisiana-style menu has plenty of other choices. You won't get any bargains here but the ambiance is memorable.
Not in the mood for a sit-down lunch? Well if you're still in New Orleans Square grab a Clam Chowder Bread Bowl from the Royal Street Veranda. That's the kind of dish that's almost always satisfying. Or head back to Main Street for the Carnation Cafe's Turkey Sandwich on Pretzel Bread with Mustard-Seed Mayo. Looking for something the whole family can share? Make your way over to Tomorrowland and order a whole pizza from Pizza Port. Abbondanza! -
Step 4
Afternoon Snack. What, you're hungry again? Oh good me too. Let's get a Dole Whip In Adventureland outside the Tiki Room. It's a cold fruity pineapple-y thing that's perfect on a warm afternoon.
Not a fruit fan? Unwrap a Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar from any ice cream stand around the park. They're not only cute, they're delicious.
In the mood for something salty? Go to Big Thunder Mountain and look for the McDonald's French Fries cart. That should do it. -
Step 5
Dinner. We normally head to Downtown Disney for dinner, as by this time we've spent nearly 10 hours in Disneyland itself. But if you're planning to dine in the park, try the Blue Bayou (but know their famous Monte Cristo Sandwich isn't on the dinner menu). Order the Blackened Chicken or Beef Short Ribs (about $26 each) and chicken drumsticks for the kids ($7). And please don't miss their Warm Cookie Dessert with Vanilla Ice Cream. Why stop eating now?
