Many individuals think that the easiest way to get from Tallahassee to Atlanta is to use the major highways of Interstate 10 and Interstate 75. That is, however, not the case. Follow these simple instructions if you want to get to and from the two cities quicker.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Go North on Thomasville Road (US 319) for roughly 30 miles or so, crossing over into Georgia from Florida.
Step2
Turn left at the BP Gas Station at the first major intersection in Thomasville. (This road is still US 319)
Step3
Turn right at the dead end to stay on US 319.
Step4
After 3 miles or so, turn left on the Florida-Georgia Parkway. (This stop is a major intersection but watch out because it is easy to pass without turning).
Step5
Travel roughly 55 miles on this back road before eventually coming to a sign that reads "Exit 3 Codele Atlanta."
Step6
Veer off to the right to take this exit and then make a left at the light.
Step7
Travel a few miles before coming to a four-way stop. Make a left on to Cordele Road at this stop.
Step8
Travel for 35 miles on Cordele Road before reaching Interstate 75.
Step9
Exit off Cordele Road on to Interstate 75 heading north. Once on Interstate 75, the city of Atlanta is just 140 miles north.

Tips & Warnings

  • This route is more scenic and it saves nearly 2 hours on driving time.
  • Stop at Lake Blacksheer during the journey for some delicious local barbecue (you can't miss it).
