Easter is rapidly approaching and many families are making plans for the popular Spring holiday. Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Easter Sunday
  • Friends or family
  • Local church
  • Innovation
  • Creativity
  • Fun party favors
  1. Step 1

Easter is traditionally celebrated by those in the Christian faith as a day celebrating Jesus Christ's resurrection. This is why Easter is often called "Resurrection Sunday" in many churches. If you are a Christian or like going to church on Easter Sunday, scope out local churches and see which are offering Easter services or celebrations.

  2. Step 2

Consider going to a sunrise Easter service. Many churches hold outdoor sermons at the break of dawn to represent Jesus's rising from the dead. These services are often tranquil and beautiful.

  3. Step 3

Plan an Easter Sunday brunch. Invite friends and family members over to enjoy an outdoor or backyard brunch. Serve mimosas, fruit smoothies, light pastries, bagels and tea sandwiches. Easter is a spring holiday, so lighter fare is perfect to serve your guests.

  4. Step 4

Organize an Easter egg hunt. Though you may not think this event is special anymore, it is for the kids. Plan a kids' Easter egg hunt and a scavenger hunt themed for adults. Obviously, kids love getting chocolate bunnies and eggs, but give the adult winner a gift card to their favorite store.

  5. Step 5

For the kids, making Easter memorable is all about creativity. Kids love arts and crafts, so plan for Easter egg painting and stenciling. Provide some markers and paper and ask the kids to sketch their idea of what Easter means. Hold a contest and give the winner an extra large chocolate bunny. (Give everyone else some candy too.)

  6. Step 6

If you aren't into big parties and brunches, use Easter Sunday to plan out your spring cleaning list. Mark off what needs to be cleaned, repaired or replaced. Make a schedule of which days you'll do what. Air out the house. Put out fresh linens. Use the Easter theme of "rebirth" to freshen up your home.

  7. Step 7

Watch a marathon of Easter-themed movies. "Put on The Passion of the Christ" for the big kids and a cartoon Easter movie for the real kids. You'd be surprised at how many "Easter" movies there are available.

  8. Step 8

Help out at a local community center or organization for the needy. They often throw Easter parties and give away Easter baskets for poor children. What could be better than helping out alongside your own children?

Tips & Warnings
  • Plan early. Some of the best chocolate, egg stenciling kits and decorations are in stores right after Valentine's Day. You don't want to be last minute in planning.
