Sometimes it sticks out like a sore thumb. Even after a thorough cleaning, the faucet looks horrible because of a lime scale buildup that just won't come off very easily. And over time, that hard water buildup just keeps getting worse. But you can get that faucet back to looking like new with a simple homemade solution. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Vinegar
  • Salt
  • Small spray bottle
  • Toothbrush
  • Sandwich bag

Instructions

      Pour 5 tablespoons of white vinegar into the small spray bottle. If you don't have a spray bottle at hand, even a bowl will do.

      Add 2 teaspoons of salt to the vinegar.

      Shake up the bottle or stir it in the bowl until the salt has dissolved. If the salt does not dissolve, add some more vinegar.

      Spray it onto the faucet or get a toothbrush and wet it with the solution in the bowl and put it onto the lime scale buildup. Let the solution sit for a while.

      Scrub lightly with a toothbrush. The buildup should come off with no problem.

Tips & Warnings

  • For really tough buildups, put the solution into a sandwich bag, tie the bag around the faucet and let it soak overnight, then scrub off the hard water deposit.
