Step 1
Know your seasons. Summer is the most popular (and crowded) time to visit. Winter is very peaceful but road closures may impede your experience. Late spring is wildflower season, when the columbines are in bloom. Fall is beautiful but weather conditions are hugely variable.

Step 2
Visit the park website (see Resources below). This highly informational website will help you decide what kind of adventure you want to have to Rocky Mountain National Park.
-
Step 3
If you want to hike Rocky Mountain National Park offers 359 miles of trails. The Bear Lake hike is less than a mile and can easily be completed in an hour. By contrast, the Long' s Peak Summit hike is 14 miles covering almost 5,000 vertical feet. Choose your own adventure.

Step 4
Rock climbing is another popular activity in Rocky Mountain National Park. Popular climbing areas include Lumpy Ridge, Petit Grapon, Long's Peak, Meeker Peak and the Cathedral Spires.

Step 5
If you are visiting in the summer, book your campsite or resort accommodation well ahead of time. To book a campsite visit the National Park Service website (see Resources below). For a resort experience consider staying in Estes Park or Grand Lake. Both towns offer a variety of accommodations.
