Have a positive attitude!

Online dating can be a two edged sword. In today's fast forward world it is just another vehicle to meet people. Unfortunately there are some do's and don'ts I'd recommend to make the experience enjoyable and hopefully rewarding!

Have a positive attitude. Decide to enjoy your online dating experience whether you find your lifelong mate or not-it will be fun!

  2. Step 2
    There's a site for everyone

    There's a site for everyone

First things first-subscribe for a month or so to a singles site. Look at several and determine which one suits you best. Older? Christian? Ethnic? Whatever is important to you-the website's out there.

  3. Step 3
    Get some pictures taken

    Get some pictures taken

Get some cool pictures taken. Either by a professional (might be costly) or get a friend to take them. Then write an honest profile of yourself. Tell the truth and place a truthful up-to-date picture on the site.

  4. Step 4
    Be honest about yourself

    Be honest about yourself

Write an honest profile about yourself on the site-try to be as truthful as possible. If you haven't gotten off the sofa for the last decade don't classify yourself as athletic! Boast about your positives-let people know you have a lot to offer!

  5. Step 5

Check your messages often on the site and answer those in whom you may be interested. Remember you may find your lifelong mate and you may just find a good friend or two. Either way it'll be fun!

  6. Step 6

Email anyone you're interested in and then after a few emails talk on the phone for a while. If and when you decide to meet-never meet in a secluded place-suggest meeting in a public mall; shopping center; large restaurant and never get into another person's car until you know them well. Good luck!

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't get discouraged-if things don't work out with the first couple meetings keep trying-enjoy the experience of meeting new and different people
  • Suggest you get the other person's phone number and block your number when you call in the event things don't work out as expected
  • Email people not just in your local area-widen your horizons
  • Never invite anyone to your home at first-get to know them
  • Don't go to anyone's house alone until you have gotten to know them
  • Don't divulge too personal information in the beginning like your children's names or where they go to school etc
  • Don't be discouraged if you meet someone who is nothing like their picture-everyone unfortunately is not honest
