Prom season is upon us and if you are going this year you have to look your best. This is your opportunity to show the world how great you can really look. You have your dress, jewelry and now it is time to get your hair done. Your hair needs to work with your dress and accessories...

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pictures
  • A plan
  1. Step 1

Get a “trial” appointment- Make sure the hair stylist is right for you. You do not want to find out on prom night that you have the hair stylist who barely made it out of school. You want and need a fabulous experience on that day. Prepare, prepare, prepare.

  2. Step 2

At the trial- tell the hair stylist what the hair style is for. Bring pictures of hair styles you like and would like on you.

  3. Step 3

Take a picture of your dress and accessories- either on your cell phone or a digital camera. The hairstylist needs to know what the dress looks like. This will help them determine what will work best with the hair.

  4. Step 4

If you bring pictures for a hairstyle, that is great. Use a highlighter or sharpie to circle the areas of the hair you like best. This will help get to the desired results a lot faster with fewer questions.

  5. Step 5

When the trial is done and you sit there with a hairstyle, make sure that you are very clear about what you like and do not like. Take a picture!!!

  6. Step 6

Take a Picture!!! Especially if you like the hair style. Hairstylists see a lot of people in a day, they may not remember what you remember.

Tips & Warnings
  • Pictures help- hair, dress, accessories
  • Be prepared with as much information as possible about what you like and dislike
  • Condition the hair. Start with daily rinse out conditioning- apply mid-shaft to ends, set 2-3 minutes, rinse. Then once a week do a treatment, work with your hair stylist, if you do not have one you can ask for a recommendation you are looking for shiny healthy hair.
  • Shampoo your hair the day before the prom, not the day of. 1 day old shampooed hair is easiest to work with and looks its best.
