      Navigate to the "Start" menu and select the "Control Panel."

      Select "Network and Internet" and "Network and Sharing Center."

      From the left pane, click the "Change adapter settings" link. A list of your network connections appears. Right-click "Local Area Connection" and click on "Properties" from the drop-down menu. If the User Account Control appears, type an administrator password and click "Yes." The Local Area Connection Properties dialog appears.

      Highlight "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click on "Properties." The Internet Protocol Version 4 Properties dialog appears.

      If your computer uses DHCP to obtain a preferred DNS server, select the radio buttons by "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically."

      If your computer uses a static IP address for a preferred DNS server, select the radio button next to "Use the following DNS server addresses." Then specify the preferred DNS server and alternate DNS server in the appropriate fields. Click "OK" when done.
