How to fix WinTV -- Failed to create TV Window. Err=8 --

Fixing WinTV PVR series launch error, mostly caused by Windows Media Center or other applications.

Things You’ll Need:

• WinTV software installed correctly
• Works for Media Center but not for WinTV2000 or WinTV32

1. Control panel and administrative tools Click Start button and go to Control Panel
   Click Administrative Tools and then go to Services
2. Services page Scroll down and find Media Center Receiver Service. Right click your mouse over the item and choose Properties
3. Media Center properties Change the Startup Type to manual and click stop button under Services
4. WinTV2000 launch Close the Administrative Tools and start your WinTV application. It should be working right away.

Tips & Warnings

• ADDITIONAL - If you have no admin access or afraid of modifying the configuration, you can do these simple steps to immediately "stop" the services temporarily (until you reboot the computer):
• Click CTRL-ALT-DEL (Task Manager), go to Processes tab
• Click Image Name to sort it alphabetically
• Find anything started with "eh". You might find more than 1 item.
• Click mouse over each items and click "End Process" button.
