Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- To do this You need the following tools Hammer ,Bulldog Shears,Aveation Shears 1 left 1 right A tape ,Wood rule .Soldering Irons Flux Wire Brush .File 50% tin50%
Step1
You will need 8' Or 10' sheets of copper anywhere from 16oz to 20 oz lead coated or zinc coated if you are looking for longgiverty,30lb roofing paper ,Rosin paper copper ring nails
Step2
Panels will be made from sheets cut down from sheets lets say 10' sheets by cutting sheets in half most sheets come by 36" so cutting sheets in half to 18" will give you a panel 15 1/8 inch wide one side will have 1 bend up 1" and the other will have 1 bend up 1 7/8" ant 7/8" down this is called the standing seam now this seam is good for a roof pitch of 5" pitch up if less then this then it should be done with a dbl lock in this case we are going with a singnel lock we allso ne to make the drip edge from this copper and I like to use the cut off for the clips the clips should be at least 1" wide by 8" this would be more then needed but to me it's so much better to grasp the Drip edge will be bent acording to the outside design most common size would be cut from 8" copper x 10" 1/4 kick out going up tp 1" 3/4 " out then return the rest on to the roof to be fasterned or clip to roof depending the best design for that roof .The roof should be started from center if possable so sides will end up even . install 30 lb roofing paper ,next in stall roasin paper over roofing paper this is used to asorb consestaion from metal then in stall The starter panal should start from the center this panel will be pre bent with 2 1" bends on a 90% with no returning lock this total panal is 16" wide ,now you stareted you need to make the lock so this can be lock to the Drip here is where you need a 15" lock bar or folding bar you can fold in place or before you in stall so each panel will be folded in direction of where its going all panel are the same but after you make the fold in one direction you need to flip the panel to go in the other direction one left on right. clips shold be installed approxermently 12" apart on both side of panals keeping clips in alinement so to look contor at compleation of job if roof is longer then the 8" or 10' panals the you will need to put a lock so to lock panels together this lock should be at least 3/4" on lock at top of panels should be bent at or about 170% so next panel will be bent down the same way to lock panals together useing a block of wood to flating out and to create a lock
Step3
For more on this please ask and I will answer I will go anywhere in this world just to do this type of roof thanks
