We all want clean, soft, and sweet smelling clothes. However no one wants harsh chemicals against our skin, but all the cleaning supplies off the shelves are full of them. So what do we use at our house? You will be amazed and delighted once you have tried it! Your clothes will come out looking and smelling clean and fresh, with no spots or stains. NO INGREDIENTS BELOW WILL HARM FABRICS!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 Cup Measure
  • 3% Hydrogen Peroxide (Brown Bottle)
  • Baking Soda-1 cup per load
  • White Distilled Vinegar-1-2 cups per load
  • Washing machine or hand wash if needed.

Step1
Peroxide Once you have sorted your clothes into color loads, get ready by first pre-treating any stains. Do this by pouring on just enough 3% Hydrogen Peroxide to make it bubble up on the spot, let stand for a few minutes. Peroxide will also disinfect your fabrics.
Step2
Water Temperature Fill the washer (or wash tub if hand washing) with the proper temperature for your clothing articles. We use cold water-see hint below.
Step3
Baking-Soda Add 1-cup Baking Soda in place of your usual laundry detergent. Baking soda whitens, brightens, and softens. It also removes odors and releases organic materials (food) from fabric.
Step4
Distilled-Vinegar Add 1-cup vinegar in place of bleach. Vinegar whitens and brightens and disinfects fabrics.
Step5
1-Cup vinegar Add 1-cup Vinegar in place of your usual softener product. Vinegar softens fabrics and removes residues.
Step6
Clean-Laundry Wash, dry, and fold clothes as usual.

Tips & Warnings

  • Cold water washing cuts dirt, grease and grime. Hot water sets the stains into the material.
  • Peroxide, Baking Soda, and Vinegar all have properties that will whiten, brighten, remove soil-grease-grime and more.
  • Increase Baking Soda for hard to clean clothes.
  • If you need more whitening power, add extra vinegar.
  • If you continue to have static cling, use a little more vinegar.
  • If using hot water, remember that heat sets stains in.
  • Always check newly washed laundry for remaining stains, as the dryer heat will set the stain.
  • Even though 3% Peroxide has low bleaching agents, just to be safe, please pour into water and not directly on clothes. Peroxide will only bleach out fabrics if you apply direct heat-such as a dryer or hairdryer.
