Step 1
Involve family and friends. Cleaning up your yard is not always a fun task, since the winter months can take a significant toll. You'll have a lot more fun involving family and friends in your project.
-
Step 2
Clean up debris. This includes limbs, leaves, trash and anything else that accumulated over the winter months.
-
Step 3
Cut back overgrown bushes and shrubs. Fall and winter have provided the perfect growing opportunity for bushes and shrubs in your yard, which is one of the main reasons why you need to trim them back.
-
Step 4
Reseed any grass, because the winter may have killed off some areas of your yard. Doing so now will prevent it from becoming a mud puddle once the rainy season arrives.
-
Step 5
Water your yard if it is dry. In some areas there may not have been enough moisture during the winter months for your yard. Providing it with some water via your sprinklers may be just what it needs to green up and grow.
-
Step 6
Cut grass if needed. If you have had a lot of water mixed with warm temperatures, spring may require that you cut your grass. Doing so will not only improve the appearance of your lawn but also help the grass grow.
-
Step 7
Plant flowers. They provide color and beauty to your yard, which can really make it look nice.
