Losing weight is one goal many people have, and you can achieve this goal just by walking. Here's how to walk off pounds, one step at a time. One step often leads to several more which can quickly add up and help you lose weight.

Step1
Find a time of day to walk. The biggest obstacle that people often face when losing weight is staying motivated. By finding a set time of day you can devote everyday to walking, you will be well on your way to walking off pounds.
Step2
Involve a friend or family member. A friend or family member can help you by keeping you motivated or making you commit to walking with them everyday.
Step3
Take your pet for a walk. If you don't have a friend or family member to help you stay motivated you can use your pet. After only a few walks it will become apparent how much they enjoy the walks, thus keeping you motivated to continue them.
Step4
Do it while you watch TV. Many people find that TV is a roadblock to losing weight. This is why it may be beneficial to purchase a treadmill and watch TV while walking off pounds.
Step5
Join a competition. A major motivator for walking off pounds can be money or other prizes. Seek out local or national competitions in which you have a chance of winning if you lose weight.

on 6/15/2008 Another great motivator is to sign up for a 5K walk, good exercise and usually a cool t-shirt to remind you of your accomplishment.
