Step 1
Seek contacts for your organization. While your organization may not provide accommodations for your team, they are often well-connected and can provide you with contacts who may be able to help you out. For example, many organizations work with local churches to provide services and meet their needs, thus they can often provide you with names and phone numbers to churches they partner with. It is worth a call to these people to determine if they can allow you to stay in their church since it can greatly reduce the cost of your overall trip.

Step 2
Check out hostels in the area. Large cities often have hostels that allow individuals and groups to stay there for a significantly reduced fee. While these hostels don’t have all the features offered by a hotel, they do provide very inexpensive lodging that will be acceptable for your stay.

Step 3
Contact local churches. Even if your contact at the organization you will be working with is unable to provide you with contacts to local churches, it is still a good idea to contact some in the area where you will be working. Just because an organization doesn’t have a contact to a church doesn’t mean they don’t provide lodging for service groups that you can take advantage of.

Step 4
Seek discounted hotel rates. Most hotels provide this when you have a large group staying in the hotel, and this can save you some money. However, this should be your last resort for finding accommodations since hotels are the most expensive option for lodging while on your trip.
