When a friend moves away, it's nice to throw a going away party to honor her. How do you make it a special and fun event for all involved?

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Good food
  • Pictures
  • Gift or card you can write on
  1. Step 1

Send out invitations for the party two weeks in advance and plan the party for the week before your friend leaves town. If you plan it for the day before the move, your friend will feel more stress than fun at the party.

  2. Step 2

Don't structure the party too much. People will want to spend lots of time chatting and reminiscing, so give them that freedom.

  3. Step 3

Provide a large card or book for everyone to sign. This will be a nice memento for your friend to look back at.

  4. Step 4

Print some pictures of your friend with others who will be at the party. Perhaps several of your other friends will want to help you put together an album or scrapbook for your friend who is leaving. It will be a priceless gift.

  5. Step 5

Keep spirits up. Though this may be a sad time, keep everyone's spirits up by bringing up funny memories and talking about the new and exciting things your friend will be experiencing in her new home.

  6. Step 6

Provide snack and party food that people can pick up to eat as they chat. A formal dinner could be nice for a small group, but you can keep it very simple.
