How to Score on a Low Post Pass in Basketball
If your team has guards that can penetrate into the lane, there is a wealth of points available to you if the players are able to make the jump shot from the blocks. This article presents the "Boston Block" drill, which focuses on improving the bounce pass to the player on the block and increasing the points that are scored as a result.
Instructions
-
-
1
Form a line of at least four players at the top of the key. The second and third players in line have a ball.
-
2
Put a player in the corner on the opposite side of the shooter. This is the outlet player and he is about 15 feet from the basket.
-
-
3
The drill starts by the first player in line quickly running underneath the basket and touching the baseline with her foot. At that point, the player makes a sharp diagonal cut up to the block on the right side of the basket.
-
4
As the player reaches the block, he calls "ball." The first player with the ball at the top of the key delivers a crisp bounce pass to the player at the block, who shoots the short jump shot off the backboard.
-
5
As soon as the bounce pass is made, that player runs to the baseline and makes the cut up to the block for the pass and shot.
-
6
The players get their own rebound and pass it to the outlet in the corner. After they make the pass to the outlet, they take the outlet position for the next pass.
-
7
The outlet player takes two dribbles and throws a crisp chest pass to the next player in line at the top of the key who does not have a ball.
-
8
The drill is continuous as each player goes from passer to shooter to outlet and back in the line again.

Tips & Warnings
This drill should be done from both blocks. Simply cut left to get to the left block and move the outlet to the other side.
Increase the focus of the team by counting the number made in a minute or number made in a row. You can also increase focus by having a competition to see how many each group can make in a minute.
Good passing form is essential (see eHow articles on passing).
When the player catches the ball at the block, it is important that she squares up to the basket and shoots with proper form
You can increase game conditions by placing a coach or manager next to the block with their hands up to simulate a defender on the shot
