How to Make Sun Catchers with Small Plastic Lids

Making these sun catchers is fun and so easy that even the kids can make them.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hammer
  • Paneling nail
  • Glue all
  • Glitter
  • Fishing line
  • Thick magazine
  • Sheet of paper
  • Milk lids
  • Small paint brush
  1. Step 1

    Wash and dry milk lids thoroughly.

  2. Step 2

    Place lid on magazine, with the smooth side of lid facing up.

  3. Step 3

    Using hammer and nail, carefully punch a hole in the top and bottom of lid.

  4. Step 4

    Brush on a thin coat of glue.

  5. Step 5

    Hold milk lid over sheet of paper and pour on glitter.

  6. Step 6

    Shake off excess glitter, then lay lid aside and allow it to dry

  7. Step 7

    Repeat steps 1 to 5 for the rest of your lids.

  8. Step 8

    Decide on the length of your fishing line.

  9. Step 9

    Tie a knot at one end of the line.

  10. Step 10

    Thread the line through the bottom hole, allowing the knot to show on the glitter side.

  11. Step 11

    Thread line up through top hole and tie a knot.

  12. Step 12

    Tie another knot 1/2" above this sun catcher and add another one.

  13. Step 13

    Continue until you have as many sun catchers on the line as you want, leaving enough room at the end to hang it by.

  14. Step 14

    Place in a sunny window and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can add clear plastic beads in between the sun catchers to create an even more dazzling effect.
  • Bead wire can also be used.
