Bold, dramatic bangs are all the rage in women's hair styles. A salon is a great place to get your locks styled with bangs, but frequently time and cost get in the way of having a professional do the job. However, with careful planning and the right tools, you can cut your own bangs for the fashion model look. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need

- Comb
- Hair clip

1
Invest in a pair of scissors designed especially for cutting hair. They should be pointed with a blade no longer than six inches in length. Regular scissors will not result in an even or reliable cut.
-
2
Start with clean, dry hair. If you cut your hair when it is wet, it may dry too short. If your hair is frizzy, apply an anti-frizz product and then blow dry that portion of the hair straight before proceeding.

3
Secure back the hair you are not going to cut with a hair clip. The key to bold bangs is to cut a large section of hair from the crown of the head. The further back you go, the bolder the look. The boldest cut occurs when hair is taken from the top most part of the head. Comb forward the hair that you wish to become the bangs and clip the rest of the hair back out of the way.
-
4
Comb the hair you are going to cut down in front of your face. Gather the hair between your middle and index finger to form an even line at the center of your face. The more hair you gather, the bolder and fuller the bangs will be.
-
5
Hold the hair securely without pulling or stretching it. Start at a 45 degree angle and slowly clip a small amount of bangs at the length you want, moving from left to right. Check the length. If you want your bangs shorter, then repeat cutting from left to right until they are the desired length.
-
6
Remove the hair clip and run your fingers through you hair to check the length again. If the bangs are too long, repeat steps 3 through 5.

Tips & Warnings
Wear an old shirt when cutting so you don't get hair everywhere.
Avoid stretching the hair, which results in bangs shorter than you planned for.
Don't raise your eyebrows while cutting your bangs; you may accidentally cut them shorter.

Be REALLY careful if you decide to do this: my auntie once cut her fringe, got a hair stuck to her eyeball and had to go to hospital to get it removed.
