Cleaning out your closet? Before you toss those clothes in the trash, donate them to the less fortunate at charities around Los Angeles.

Instructions

    How to Donate Clothing to Charity in L.A.

  1. Step 1

    Clean out your closet. If you haven't worn a piece of clothing in more than a year, it's time to give it away.

  2. Step 2

    Pack the clothes in shopping or trash bags and donate them to local charities.

  3. Step 3

    Take a trip to Goodwill. At most Goodwill stores, you don't even have to go inside. Simply drop off the clothes you're donating in the drop- off box at the back of the store.

  4. Step 4

    Donate your clothing to Food on Foot. Take your shopping bags and or trash bags down to their Hollywood feeding station (1625 N. Schrader Blvd.) Sundays from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

  5. Step 5

    Donate your clothes to the Salvation Army. Google Salvation Army locations in your zip code, then bring your clothes to the location.

  6. Step 6

    Donate your clothes to the American Cancer Society. Head over to their drop-off location in Los Angeles (9300 W. Pico Blvd.) Monday through Friday 10am-5pm, Saturday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep track of your donations. All of the clothing donations can be written off for tax purposes.
