Here are some easy ways to Go Green for Holidays and Gift Giving.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Christmas Cards- Sending out Christmas cards every year uses up a lot of paper. This year try using the Internet to send your Holiday Wishes. E-cards are a great way to let someone know that you are thinking of them and they are not only environmentally friendly, but also free.

  2. Step 2

Christmas lights- I am a huge fan of Christmas lights so I am not telling you not to use them. What I do is keep the tree unplugged for the majority of the time. We turn on our Christmas tree lights when we have guests over or for a little while to enjoy the holiday feeling, but then turn it back off. Keeping your tree on when you are not home just so your neighbors can enjoy it is no longer the norm.

  3. Step 3

Re-use your Tree- A lot of people love the scent of real trees, but cutting down a tree every year is harmful to the species. If you already have a plastic tree, keep using it. If you don't I can bet someone you know has an extra one lying around. Using someone else's old tree is not only a great way to recycle, but also very free.

  4. Step 4

Give a Green Gift- With all of the frenzy of holiday shopping rapidly approaching us, giving a gift card is not only less wasteful than giving a gift than may get tossed or might not get used, but it is also a way for you to cut down on gas use by making one stop for all. I prefer to adopt trees for people with Blue Planet Registrar. People love these gifts as well. This gift cuts down on the use of wrapping paper as well as offsetting co2, helping global warming and are commemorative to boot.

  5. Step 5

Plant a Tree- A tree can be a very thoughtful and loving gift for someone. Plan a tree in honor of a loved one. This is a gift that not only can be enjoyed for years to come, but it also is a gift that is beneficial to all. Again, if you do not have a yard or would rather have the tree planted somewhere on the earth that needs it, use Blue Planet Registrar.

  6. Step 6

Go Organic for Children- With all of the re-calls that are now happening in the market place, I suggest giving organic toys to children. Although these toys do tend to cost a bit more than a conventional toy, I feel that you cannot put a price on safety. Not only are these toys better for children, but also they are better for the environment.

  7. Step 7

Remember the true meaning of the holidays. Share your love with each other and the planet, recylce.
