Step 1
Some states offer a car allowance up to a certain maximum while your are on the federal food stamp program. You may qualify if you are looking for a job or in school or training. You may need to contact your local assistance office and ask about job programs. A casemanager will help you make a plan for finding a job or training.

Step 2
Once you have determined that you qualify for a car allowance you need to find a car. A check may be issued to the seller of the car so you can complete the transaction. You may also be eligible to receive a seperate allowance for the vehicle fees such as registration, plates, etc..
