Do you have imperfections in your complexion? Here are some tricks I use to hide the flaws on my skin.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • liquid face make-up
  • compressed powder make-up
  • cover stick
  • yellow or green facial stick
  1. Step 1

Apply coat of liquid make-up all over facial area and likely the neck or anything that shows through the top. Try to promote a consistent color for all areas. (I usually use Cover Girl Clean as it seems to promote less acne than other kinds).

  2. Step 2

Use yellow stick concealer to cover acne. This makes it lighter and easier to hide with the next step. I don't always find that I need the green concealer, but use it for the recommended areas it covers if needed.

  3. Step 3

Use skin tone cover stick to cover over the yellow or green concealer. Sometimes I can skip step 2 and just use this for skin imperfections itself. This usually works better if it is a lighter color than your liquid makeup.

  4. Step 4

Apply another coat of your liquid foundation so it has coverage of all areas as before. (I use another type of liquid foundation called Cover Girl Clean Fragrance Free for this step--it appears to have a slightly different consistency and covers the other liquid better than another coat of the same type).

  5. Step 5

Use your compressed powder make-up to finish your look. Dab it on over the top of the rest. Smooth out any inconsistencies in the liquid make-up and make sure it is covered with the compressed powder. It is best to have compressed powder the same color as your liquid make-up for this step.

  6. Step 6

Your face should be finished! If it is desired, use eye shadow, blush, and lipstick to top off your look.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the skin flaw such as acne shows through your make-up, go over the spot again with the cover stick (not too heavy), then more liquid foundation, and then dab on the compressed powder.
  • Large lumps from acne are hard to even out without some sort of actor or costume make-up accessories such as glue on fake skin which can be gone over with make-up. (There also may be a types of putty to do this).
  • The reasons for the coat of the make-up under the yellow stick are simple--it gives an addition coat of color to help hide the flaw and, if using make-up such as Cover Girl Clean, can help prevent some of the breakouts that might be caused by the yellow stick or cover stick.
  • Make sure your coverage is even for all layers of make-up. Use color sticks and cover stick on actual flaws and don't smudge it around.
  • This article's full amount of steps are for people who want to look near perfect. This is great for jobs that demand good looks or for special occasions.
  • Use the amount of steps that are preferred personally by you.
  • Mae sure to buy the correct type of make-up for your skin. Some make-up can cause rash and skin irritation.
  • Do not use any type of make-up that causes an allergy.

on 11/16/2008 Thanks! I like how you explained that you're supposed to use the green or yellow concealer and then a cover stick on top of that, I didn't know that. Great advice for a full coverage look!

on 4/25/2008 I don't always need this much--only at certain times. I have an article as well on how to cleanse skin for acne. Also, some things such as hormone problems at certain times aren't going to be stopped by eating right.
I try to eat a balanced diet, but I also try to eat things I enjoy such as sweets, which most people will do no matter if it effects the skin or not. Some of us just like to enjoy our food and that's the way we are. So for those people who like sweets and soda, there's this article--also those mentioned before.

on 4/24/2008 This seems like a lot of steps to cover flaws! It may be best to really take care of the skin internally and externally by eating right, drinking plenty of water, and using the correct skin care, cleansing, toning & moisturizing to help correct flaws first. Then applying your make up to even skin tone and cover, not camouflage.
