In order to get a student loan, you must have had a high school diploma or a GED. If you did not have one before you went to a tech or any other college, then there is good news for you! You can have your student loan dismissed/forgiven if they find you were falsely certified. You will then get ALL the money they have taken from you back.

      Fill out this form
http://www.ed.gov/offices/OSFAP/DCS/forms/form.discharge.false.certification.atb.pdf and send it to who has your student loan. I would attach a return receipt to it to make sure they did receive it. It will take about 90 days for them to get back with you.

I would attach a return receipt to it to make sure they did receive it. It will take about a month for them to get back with you.

Tips & Warnings

  • Send this with something as proof that you sent it as you are dealing with the government that want to collect their money and not give any back.

Can I dispute my student loan? In 2004 I attended one semester at IADT (International Academy of Design and Technology). I am married to US citizen and I became a citizen myself in 2009. But back in 2004 when I attended the college I was still waiting for my green card. At the time of my enrollment I made many times clear to my recruiter that I only had SS and work authorization. He told me as long as I had valid SS I will be OK. So only at the end of the semester I was told that i don't qualify for a student loan because I don't have a Green Card. I was so upset specially after I warned them about my legal status multiple times. I really feel that I have been tricked into this school by a good sales man recruiter without fully checking my eligibility. Also I don't have GED since I attended school outside US but I was never asked to show any credentials. Do you know if I can dispute...
