Sometimes a memory is so special you want it to be with you wherever you go. If you a special memory you want to preserve, why not create a memory pendant you can wear against your chest to always keep the memory close to your heart? Here's how to create a memory pendant to preserve those special moments

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Soldering iron
  • Lead free solder (available at stained glass stores)
  • Two glass slides
  • Copper foiling (available at stained glass stores)
  • Silver color jump ring for hanging (available from bead and craft stores)
  • Flux (available at stained glass stores)
Step1
Prepare Your Special Memory.

You'll want to cut your photograph, ticket, or other paper article to fit within the boundaries of your glass slide. You can make copies of the original to use to create your pendant if you don't want to harm the original.
Step2
Sandwich Your Memory Between Two Slides.

Once you've cut your memory to size, place it between the two glass slides. Apply the copper foiling along the edges of the slides to hold the two pieces together. The copper foiling should overlap the outer edges of the glass slightly to firmly grip the glass. Using a firm object such as a pencil, smooth the copper foiling so it's flat and wrinkle free.
Step3
Solder Your Pendant.

Carefully apply a light coating of flux over the copper foiling and using lead free solder, touch the tip of your soldering iron to the solder to collect a bit of liquid solder on the tip of your iron. Apply the solder to one edge of the copper foiling and extend it down the length of the foiling using the hot head of the soldering iron. Continue applying solder and heat to coat the copper foiling completely with the lead free solder.
Step4
Apply Your Loop.

Apply a light coating of flux to the jump ring which will serve as the loop for hanging your pendant. Using pliers hold the jump ring against the middle, top edge of your pendant. Apply a dot of lead free solder and use heat from the iron to melt the solder to hold the jump ring in place.
Step5
Clean Your New Creation.

Use glass cleaner to clean your newly created memory pendant before wearing it. Find a silver chain that compliments your pendant and thread it through the loop. Your pendant is now ready to wear. Enjoy!
