Including your children in planning and preparing meals helps kids feel good about themselves and learn about important nutrients and foods at the same time. Letting them have hands on experiences with preparing healthy snacks is great for there furture eating habits and thier relationship with food. My todlers' favorite it to put together snack mix. Below is the recipe my todler loves to make.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1-1/2 cups candy-coated chocolate pieces
  • 3 cups thin pretzel sticks, broken in half
  • 3 cups bite-size cheese crackers
  • 1-1/2 cups raisins

Step1
Place all ingredients on a table that is easily reachable to your toddler.
Step2
I recommend putting the ingredients pre-measured on the table. This might save any fuss later.
Step3
Set out a large mixing bowl and show your toddler how to put the different ingredients in.
Step4
Now stand back and watch your toddler have a blast. Don't worry about them taking a snack every little, it's healthy enough.
Step5
Store unused mixture in a tightly covered container, to keep mixture from getting stale.
Step6
This simple snack mix creates an opportunity to let kids be in charge of the cooking!

Tips & Warnings

  • Have fun with it, feel free to add any favorite cereal or dried fruit in the mixture.
