Things You'll Need:
- Pant or Short
- Zipper (correct length)
- Seam ripper
- Tape measure
- Thread
- Sewing machine
-
Step 1
You can measure the zipper length before you rip out the zipper. Go to the fabric store and purchase the correct zipper. If you would be more comfort take your pant or short with you to the fabric store that would be fine.
-
Step 2
Start to rip out the old zipper carefully. You may have to open up a small amount on the inside of the waist band.
-
Step 3
Thread up your sewing machine with the thread that matches the item you are repairing. If you have a zipper presser foot snaps that onto your machine. Take out of the package the new zipper and keep it closed. This will make sewing it into your garment easier.
-
Step 4
Pin the new zipper onto the underneath piece of the zipper opening. Tuck the top of the zipper into the opening of the waist band. Stitch right where the old stitching was.
-
Step 5
Pin the zipper to the top panel and stitch where the old stitch was.

on 12/6/2008 Not that I would ever sew a zipper into a pair of pants, that's just not me, but I can see how useful this article can be. I know sometimes I should just zip it! ;-) Good article.
