How to Whiten Your Teeth Safely

With all the strips, gum, and bleaches out there that claim to whiten your teeth for a nominal fee, it's easy to forget that all these products do the same thing as a little baking soda and toothpaste. Here is an easy, cheap way to whiten your teeth.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Toothpaste
  • Warm water
  • Toothbrush
  • Glass/cup
  1. Step 1

    In the palm of your hand, mix toothpaste and baking soda together.

  2. Step 2

    Wet your toothbrush.

  3. Step 3

    Dip the toothbrush into mixture.

  4. Step 4

    Gently brush your teeth, using circular motions.

  5. Step 5

    Rinse your mouth with warm water and repeat the brushing process until your teeth feel clean and fresh.

  6. Step 6

    Use once everyday.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoiding soda, tea and coffee will also help to keep your teeth white.
  • Brushing your teeth too hard can damage the enamel.

I have been using baking soda to whiten my teeth for several years and I have never had a problem with it damaging the enamel. In my tips and warnings I warned people about brushing their teeth to hard with baking soda because as you said it is an abrasive and could certainly do damage. However, everyone is entitled to their own oppion and I appreciate yours. Thank you.

on 9/20/2008 I asked several dentists about this method and ALL have suggested against it. It's an abrasive and enamel do NOT like abrasives!!!!
