Valentine's Day is that special day to show your significant other how you feel about him or her. Store shelves are lined with cards to help you celebrate this special occasion, but the problem is, it's often hard to find a card that says exactly what you want to say. With desktop publishing software you can create your own Valentine's Day cards and express your heartfelt feelings. A custom Valentine's Day card will show your loved one how you truly feel about him or her.
Things You'll Need
- Serif PagePlus
- Printer paper
Download Serif PagePlus SE (See References 1 for link). This is a full-featured desktop publishing program you can get for free. With PagePlus, you can create everything from greeting cards and business cards to calenders and newsletters. Once you have installed PagePlus, click the icon on your desktop to open the program. Choose "Download New Designs" from the start wizard. The PagePlus template web page will open. Choose the Rose greeting card template from the "Greeting Cards 2" category. Close PagePlus while you download the template, then reopen it and choose "Use Downloaded Designs." You'll find your new template under "Greeting Cards" in the "Valentine's" section. Double-click the template top open it for editing.
Select "Pages" from the design bar to the right of your workspace. This will allow you to see all the pages in your card template and to navigate through them easily. On this same design bar, at the top, type in who the card is for and who it's from. Write a personal poem or a love letter to your significant other. If you're satisfied with your new text and the default graphics, you're ready to save your design and print it.
To change graphics, select the graphic elements you want to replace with your own ones. Delete the selected graphic, then go to the "Insert" menu and the "Picture" command to add your own images to the card. You don't need to delete template images to insert your own ones. You can add your images on top of the images in the template and then go to "Arrange" and set your image to be on top of the image in the card template.
Print your card type from the "File" menu. You can use plain or glossy paper in any color you choose, as long as the color of the text can be viewed. Glossy paper looks best, especially for images. When your card prints, all you have to do is follow the folding instructions to finish your personalized Valentine's Day card.
