Cold season brings constant nose blowing, and constant nose blowing brings dry, irritated and chapped skin. But the skin just below the nose isn’t the only area that gets dry and chapped during the winter--other parts of the face, the hands and the feet can be affected as well. If you can’t or don’t want to use a traditional skin lotion to remedy the problem, here are a few other tips that might help.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Vitamin E gelcaps
  • Needle (optional)
  • Emu oil

Step1
Take one of the vitamin E gelcaps out of the bottle and break it open, either by biting it or by piercing it with a needle.
Step2
Squeeze the oil out of the gelcap onto your fingertips, and liberally spread the oil on the dry, chapped area.
Step3
You can also use emu oil in place of the vitamin E. Simply spray some of the oil into your palm.
Step4
Then take the fingertips of your other hand, coat them with the oil and rub it into the affected area.
Step5
Emu oil can be used not only on the face, but also on chapped and dried hands and feet.
Step6
If you use vitamin E or emu oil just before going to bed, be sure to put a towel down on your bed to keep your pillowcase or sheet from getting stained.

Tips & Warnings

  • Vitamin E also comes in a pump bottle, so if you can find it packaged this way, it is much more convenient than breaking open the gelcaps.
