Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Math Games
Step1
Write the numbers on paper or cards and lay them face up on the floor in any order.
Step2
Ball up two pieces of paper to make balls.
Step3
Have the first child toss the balls onto the numbers and when they land, the parent will say "add," "subtract," "multiply," or "divide" (whichever is appropriate for the child). By having the parent participate and choose math functions, you can have children of all ages skills play the same game and be challenged equally.
Grammar Games
Step1
Write the parts of speech (noun, pronoun, verb, adverbs, conjunctions, adjectives) down on paper.
Step2
Have a child toss the ball onto the parts of speech.
Step3
When the ball lands, the parent calls out a sentence and the child picks out that part of speech from the sentence. For example, if their ball lands on verb, you can then say "I went to the store and purchased some cheese."
The correct answers for the child to respond with are "went" and "purchased."
