It seems like many families get their reading done in the bathroom. This means books and magazines are stored on the floor or the back of the toilet and often interferes with closing the bathroom door. You can take care of this dilemma by creating a magazine storage rack for your bathroom. This magazine rack is actually a series of metal towel bars arranged on the wall to make a streamlined book and magazine storage system.

Things You’ll Need:

Skinny towel bars
Level
Screws
Screwdriver or screw gun
Stud finder

Step1

Find the correct towel bars for the job. Some are available at Ikea, they are 1/2-inch thick solid wrought iron bars that are installed with 2 screws on each end. You don't have to purchase these particular towel bars, but make sure they are simple and very thin so that a magazine can fit neatly over it.

Step2

Choose a wall that will not interfere with the door opening and closing to hang your bars. They should not be hung behind the bathroom door and should be in easy reach from the toilet.

Step3

Use your stud finder to locate the studs in the wall and mark where you have found them. When you have found studs that allow you to hang the both ends of the bar securely, install the first towel bar.

Step4

Install the second towel bar 12 inches above the first, and if you chose to install a third, place it 12 inches above that bar. Now you are ready to hang your books and magazines in the bathroom.
