Things You'll Need:
- Paint
- Creativity
- Brushes
- Painter's tape
-
Step 1
Use marble faux painting to change the entire look of the tabletop you would like to spruce up. To do this, paint the table in a white paint. Then, using a feather, streak the still wet paint with gray paint. Try to mimic the look of real marble. Seal with a high-gloss polyurethane.
-
Step 2
Paint a fake window on a wall that needs a focal point. Tape off a nice square with painter's tape, then tape a smaller square in the center to make a window frame. Paint that with a color that matches your other windows. Next, paint a simple outdoor scene in your faux window. It doesn't have to be perfect!
-
Step 3
Paint a farm, circus or racetrack on the walls of a child's room to liven it up. You can have your child help and it doesn't take much skill. Think coloring book pictures: simple lines and forms.

on 3/20/2008 I love the faux painting idea! I have tried it before, but wasn't too pleased with my results. However, now that you've mentioned it, I think I'm going to try again! Thank you for the inspiration and motivation!

on 3/19/2008 I know what you mean! I'm always thinking up new ways to liven up plain things. I just faux painted my daughters' bunk bed, in fact!

on 3/19/2008 I used the faux Florence finish in my breakfast room and it really looks great. Now flat walls just don't seem quite as exciting anymore!
