How to Attempt to Choose a Baby’s Sex

Nowadays we hear all about the miracles of science and the advances that have been made with respect to reproduction, and how they can even help couples pick and choose the sex of their baby. However, maybe you are not the couple that needs medical help conceiving and you do not have bundles of cash to unload on a medical professional to help you choose the sex of a baby. For these couples, there are other natural methods that can be tried in an attempt to choose a baby’s sex. But keep in mind there are no guarantees and only a 50 percent chance it will actually work.

1. Utilize different sexual positions to achieve different sexes. It is medically known that the acid condition of the vagina is not suitable for sperm. When using natural methods to try and choose the sex of a baby, couples wanting to try for a boy should use positions that allow for deeper penetration (that will allow the sperm to be deposited more closely to the cervix). Couples hoping to conceive a girl should use positions that encourage shallow penetration, because sperm that live and make it through the acid levels of the vagina are the female sperm.

2. Use an alkaline-based douche before intercourse. An alkaline douche can be made with baking soda diluted in water. Alkaline douching will make the vagina less acidic and may allow for more male-producing sperm to survive and make it through the cervix, increasing the chance for a boy baby to be conceived.

3. Look at diet and weight when trying to conceive. It has been suggested that underweight women tend to conceive more male babies. Also, women that consume a diet rich in potassium conceive more boys, while women that consume a diet rich in magnesium conceive more girls.

4. Engage in timed sex. Now, the way this theory works is that male sperms swim faster than female sperms. It is thought that having sex on the day of ovulation the male sperms would swim faster and reach the egg first, and better the chance for conceiving a boy. Since, female sperms swim slower and live longer, having intercourse a few days prior to ovulation would better the chance of the female sperms reaching the egg first and conceiving a girl. In order to increase the chances of this method truly working, it might be good to invest in an ovulation kit and learn when the woman is indeed ovulating.

5. Try to control and time orgasms. Again, this goes back to the whole vagina being too acidic for sperm to live long in. When a woman orgasms, her vagina becomes more alkaline. So since alkaline based is better for male sperm to survive, while female sperm do better in the more acidic environment, it is suggested that a woman should orgasm first when hoping to conceive a boy.
