Microsoft Excel has many excellent features that enable a user to make their mathematical and financial calculations with ease. Some issues arise that the basic functions of Excel cannot optimize. This is where the Excel solver add-in comes in. With Solver, a user can optimize any demand, profitability or scheduling equation.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Open Microsoft Excel. Click on the "Start" button on the main operating system menu. Then choose "Programs" from the start menu. Next, select "Microsoft Office" on the program menu. Finally, click on "Microsoft Excel" in the Microsoft Office menu to open Microsoft Excel.
Step2
Choose "Add-in" from the Microsoft Excel tools menu. Click on the "Tools" menu from the main Microsoft Excel menu. Select "Add-ins" from the tools menu. Next, select "Solver Add-in" from the add-in menu. Finally, click "OK" to allow Microsoft Excel to load Solver.
Step3
Install the Excel Solver if it is not on the add-in list. From the Add-in menu, choose "Browse". There should next appear list of add-ins to install. Select "Solver" from the add-in list and choose "OK" to install Microsoft Excel Solver.
Step4
Close the Microsoft Excel application and then follow the instruction in step one to reopen Excel to verify that the Solver loaded correctly.
