Turn the temperature dial to a lower setting to lower the heat generated from the cooking grill. It may take several minutes for the temperature of the grilling surface to cool down.

    • 2

Open the lid to let in cooler air if your food is cooking too quickly or you're trying to cool down the grill temperature. The lid will actually open up flat on most of the model grills. This may be all it takes to cool down the grill or slow down the cooking elements of the grill for a short time period. When the lid is closed, the inside temperature of the grill will be more intense and your food will be grilled much quicker.

Switch off the grill completely if you need to cool down the grill quickly. Let the grill plates cool down before you adjust the temperature dial and turn the grill back on.

    • 4

Unplug the grill from the electrical wall socket if a grilling emergency happens where you need an immediate cool-down.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not submerge the grill in water while it is plugged in.

  • Do not submerge the grill under water to clean the grilling plates, as this is an electrical appliance. Wipe the grilling plates clean after they have cooled down. Some grill models are dishwasher safe as they have removable grilling plates that go right in the dishwasher for easy clean-up.
