Clean Soft Ballet Slippers

Ballet shoes get scuffed and dirty faster than normal shoes. Depending on the material your ballet shoes are made from, you can either hand wash them or toss them into the washing machine on the delicate cycle. Let them dry naturally, do not put them in the dryer.

Instructions

    • 1

Put canvas ballet shoes into the washing machine and use the delicate cycle. If you don't have a delicate cycle, use a lingerie bag for added protection.

    • 2

Use a soft toothpaste and liquid dish soap to clean leather ballet shoes. Rinse them with a soft damp cloth.

    • 3

Apply a cleanser specifically for leather products, such as saddle soap. Choose such a product that doesn't contain dye.

    • 4

Spot clean with a magic eraser. You can purchase a magic eraser in your local grocery store in the cleaning supply aisle.

    • 5

Use baking soda inside the slippers to freshen the insides. Let them stand for twenty-four hours for best results.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wear damp slippers around the house so they dry to your foot. This makes them more comfortable to wear.

  • Do not put ballet shoes in the dryer regardless of what material it's constructed of.

  • Avoid over-saturating the leather with soap.
