Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Decide how you want your dog to behave. Take into consideration big and little things that you want her to do. Create the ideal dog in your mind. This is the most important step. You have to envision the perfect dog to get the perfect dog.
Step2
Focus on the characteristics. Know that your puppy can be that dog. Picture it in your mind over and over.
Step3
Look for bits of the behavior that you desire in your dog. When you see the behavior, no matter how small, remember to give him a treat and a lot of praise.
Step4
Realize that every time you notice good behavior and reward it, you'll encourage your dog toward more good behavior. It also make you believe in your pet more. When you recognize good behavior, you reinforce both the behavior and your belief in your pet.
Step5
Notice that you now view your pet in a different light. When you do that, you also give your pet cues to behave differently. When you believe in your pets, they live up to your expectations.
Step6
Understand that many of the theories of child psychology also work on pets. Rosenthal's Self-fulfilling Prophecy was a study that led teacher's to believe that the child's locker number was his I.Q. The child lived up to the belief the teacher held. Your pet reacts the same way.
Step7
Practice holding images of the good dog that hides inside your naughty puppy in your mind daily. Visualization helps you to believe in your pet.
