Things You'll Need:
- Adobe Photoshop CS3
-
Step 1
Start Adobe Photoshop, and create a new canvas that has a white background. It can be any size that you want, but should be fairly big because it is a background.
-
Step 2
Choose the "Paint" bucket tool from the Photoshop toolbox, click on the foreground color to select a color of your choice and click on the canvas to fill it with color.
-
Step 3
Select the "Brush" tool from the Photoshop toolbox, click on the foreground color to select a color and make brush strokes in varying lengths on your canvas. A color that is a good contrast to the canvas color is a good choice.
-
Step 4
Use at least two other colors to add brushstrokes to the canvas. You can use the "Brush" toolbar at the top of the Photoshop window to change the brush stroke size, mode and opacity.
-
Step 5
Choose the "Filter" menu, point to "Blur" and click on "Motion Blur" to open the "Motion Blur" dialog box. Change the angle of the blur by typing in a value in the "Angle" text box. Use the Distance Slider to vary the distance of the motion blur. When you are happy with the results of the background, click the "OK" button to apply the motion blur.
-
Step 6
Click the "Filter" menu, point to "Artistic" and click on "Sponge" to open the "Sponge" dialog box. Adjust the brush size, definition and smoothness of the sponge filter on by moving the sliders on the right side of the dialog box. Press the "OK" button when you are happy with the result and ready to use your colorful mist background.
