Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Non-stick skillet
  • Omelet ingredients
  • Kitchen utensils
  1. Step 1

Prepare for the process by gathering all of the ingredients in one place. Be certain you have enough eggs for the size omelet you want to make. Usually a large omelet contains three to four eggs.

  2. Step 2

Set out a spatula, whisk and a quality knife for chopping and dicing ingredients. Heat a medium non-stick skillet to medium heat using a pat of butter to grease the skillet.

  3. Step 3

Chop and dice savory ingredients like celery, onions and mushrooms. Sweet ingredients can include vanilla extract, sugar or mint.

  4. Step 4

Whisk the eggs in a bowl until they are fully mixed. Add milk or even a little water to provide a fluffier omelet.

  5. Step 5

Place all of the vegetables and meat into the heated skillet and mix for about a minute. Let all of the ingredients come up to temperature and soften a bit. For a sweet omelet, pour eggs in first and let them set a little. When the eggs are somewhat firm, add the sweet ingredients and fold the omelet.

  6. Step 6

Pour in the whisked eggs until all of the ingredients are incorporated. Tilt the pan slightly so any uncooked egg fills any voids and cooks evenly. You can now fold the sweet or savory omelet.

  7. Step 7

Slide the omelet from the pan gently and top with any sweet items like fresh fruit. Top savory omelets with bacon bits, cheese or salsa.

Tips & Warnings
  • Jerk the pan's handle backwards slightly to loosen the omelet from the pan where it may be stuck. This step prevents the omelet from tearing when flipped or taken from the skillet.
  • Consider the low-fat alternative omelet by using egg substitutes and healthy toppings.
