How to Become Emo on a Budget

"Emo" is short for emotional and is rooted in the emotionally-charged punk rock music. My Chemical Romance, Green Day, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Jimmy Eat World are a few of the bands that are dubbed emo. If you want to achieve the emo look but you're on a budget the following fashion tips will ease you into that emo style with a small amount of cash.

Instructions

1. Dye your hair black. You can do this yourself by purchasing an inexpensive hair dye at the supermarket. You may need the help of an experienced friend the first time you do this. Spike your bangs a bit, and let them fall sideways across one of your eyes for the full emo look.

2. Borrow your little brother's or sister's T-shirts with random logos on the fronts. Vintage T-shirts and fashions from thrift shops can also do the emo trick.

3. Wear your pants tight and a little short. If you're a guy, it's acceptable to wear girl's jeans and pants.

4. Snatch grandpa's old horn-rimmed glasses. These are very popular with the emo group.

5. Ask your mom to help you figure out how to apply makeup if you're a guy, especially eyeliner.

6. Practice your sad face. Most emo kids walk around with a look of despair, as if their world is falling apart around them.
