As children grow into adults and move out they tend to drift apart from the important people in their lives. Between working, going to school, raising children and taking care of the house you may be drifting away from your dad. If you find this happening follow these steps to become closer to your dad.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Step1
Learn what your dad enjoys doing. You may be surprised how much you have in common because you share half your DNA. Join him in the activities that he enjoys and you may find yourself having a good time as well.
Step2
Share your favorite activities with your dad. Whether you like hiking, biking or shopping your dad will enjoy spending the time with you. You'll feel closer to him just being able to share what makes you happy.
Step3
Consider your dad's feelings. He may appear to be the strong, silent type but feelings run deep. Ask him how he feels, and ask it with sincerity.
Step4
Spend quality time together. Make a date to go to lunch, take a walk or go shopping. Meet him at work for lunch if the weekends are too busy.
Step5
Talk to your dad on a regular basis. The key to having a closer relationship is regular communication. Call him if you don't have the time to stop by.
Step6
Watch the ball game together. Even if you don't enjoy sports, the time together would make up for it. Get a couple of drinks, a bag of chips and sit back to enjoy the time together getting closer.
