Asking someone to lose weight is a delicate subject that you'll want to broach with caution. You don't want to seem insulting, and you should create a positive spin to the weight loss suggestion. This is especially true when asking a boyfriend or girlfriend to lose weight. Read on to learn how to ask a girlfriend or boyfriend to lose weight.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Keep the conversation casual at first. Your significant other may not take kindly to a lecture on the reasons that he needs to lose weight. When the two of you are alone, bring it up nonchalantly.

  2. Step 2

Tell her the reasons behind wanting her to lose weight. You should never say that it will make her more attractive to you. Rather, make the case that she needs to start thinking of ways to improve her health.

  3. Step 3

Offer to go on the diet with him. You can say that you are concerned about your health as well and want to watch what you eat. Everyone can benefit from a healthy diet that is high in fruits and veggies.

  4. Step 4

Join a gym together. Find fun activities or classes at the gym that you can take as a couple. Create a workout schedule that works for both of you.

  5. Step 5

Stay positive and let her know you'll be there as support along the way. You want her to feel secure about your relationship while attempting to lose weight.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't eat unhealthy foods in front of your boyfriend or girlfriend when the person is attempting to lose weight. This provides too much temptation to stray from the diet.
  • Never resort to insults as a way to motivate your boyfriend or girlfriend to lose weight. You may find yourself single.

on 11/4/2008 Just start having more sex. More sex= more orgasms. Orgasms burn calories. Guys , trying to control your orgasm burns calories. I've fealt many times that I had been to the gym after a sex marathon.

on 10/15/2008 This is stupid. The boyfriend/girlfriend knows they're fat. If they want to lose weight, they will when they desire to do so. Being overweight can stem from emotional or medical issues. No amount of talking, pushing, goading, or complaining, or trying to do 'fun' stuff masked as exercise will make them lose weight. For the most part, love and accept your partner. Once they feel the acceptnace and love, then the weight will come off.
