3
Put together a team to help you investigate. It is always best to have at least one other person accompany you on an investigation to act as witness and equipment holder.

4
Conduct research in your local area to locate sites of possible hauntings. Local legends usually have a little basis in fact but it's always good to follow up on stories at the local library by looking at old newspapers. This is a way of tacking the unfortunate circumstances surrounding a particular location.

5
Contact the owner of a chosen location to get permission to investigate. Make it clear that you want to stay in the building overnight or at least until early morning. Explaining your intent and being respectful goes a long way to getting location access.
-
6
Execute an investigation based on your experiences on the investigation that you tagged along on. Put into practice everything you learned about reading rooms, marking locations and recording evidence.
-
7
Analyze your investigation findings, recording any evidence of paranormal phenomena. It is a good idea to follow up with the location owner to explain your findings.
