1. Give your band a cool name. Nothing is cooler than a band with an awesome name. To find inspiration for your band name, look to famous movie lines or song lyrics. Consider holding a contest to see who can think of the best band name.
2. Dress in a cool clothes. Express your band's unique style by dressing casually. Purchase clothes from thrift stores or get a few vintage band tees from stores like Hot Topic. You want to look slightly unkempt when playing a gig.
3. Play edgier music to impress your current and future fans. Progressive and heavy rock music is considered cool by many. Very few people think pop acts are that cool.
4. Advertise your band online. Launch a band website that lets web surfers know all about your band. Post song lyrics and video clips. Start a blog and invite visitors to post comments about your cool band. If you don't want to do your own website, post a MySpace page instead.
