If you practice good manners, you'll notice that people respond much better to you. They'll listen to what you say and won't feel put off by your bad manners. One of the essential parts of practicing good manners is to be polite to everyone. Read on to learn how to be polite to everyone.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Say please and thank you whenever you can. People are more likely to respond to a request if they hear please at the end of it. Also, when someone does something for you, say thank you.

  2. Step 2

Pick up on the person's state of mind. For example, if you notice that the person does not seem well, remember to ask how they are feeling.

  3. Step 3

Use the right tone of voice. When in doubt, use a softer tone of voice when speaking. No one appreciates an abrasive speaking of voice when in conversation.

  4. Step 4

Consider others. When in a restaurant, turn off your cell phone. While having a party, keep your music turned down low.

  5. Step 5

Hold doors open for everyone. It's considered very polite to hold a door open for the person entering behind you.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember to pass along a sentiment when a person is sneezing. You can say whatever phrase that you want as long as you recognize the sneeze in some way
  • You should practice polite manners even if the other person is rude. It proves that you observe a better sense of etiquette.
  • Don't interrupt people when they're speaking. It's not polite and is a big turn off to the other person.
