How to Be Queen at a School Dance When Overweight

Like in the movies "Hairspray," and "Queen Sized," anyone can be the popular beauty, no matter how overweight you might be. While children in school can be terribly vicious to people who carry extra pounds, it is often the girl with the most personality who takes the day. Overcome the stereotypes in school and try a few of these tips. Then go polish your tiara.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Step1
Be friendly to others at all times. It is difficult for children to hang on to ugly words and feelings toward someone who is so nice to them. Compliment freely and smile a lot. A great smile can go a whole lot further than a skinny body.
Step2
Find a role model who can give you courage to take up the challenge of running for queen. There are more and more women, of all ages, who are standing up for themselves and their less than perfect figures. Queen Latifa and Nikki Blonski are just two big women who are full-figured stars who are thought to be beautiful. Even if it is a character in a movie, take the pumping up wherever you can.
Step3
Dress to complement your body, not to hide it. Many students think that by wearing really over-sized clothes or really tight clothes, it will compensate for their pudginess. It doesn't. By wearing clothes that are wrong for you in and out of school, you will only emphasize your trouble spots.
Step4
Carry yourself with pride by standing erect and holding your head up. Not only will it help to stretch out your neck, but you will also project a sense of confidence. Other students pick up those kinds of signals and respond with respect. Slouching also emphasis the fact that you are overweight and that you know it.
