There are plenty of rules and regulations in the world meant to govern people who would not otherwise be responsible for their lives and obligations. These rules also keep us socially responsible and support the community in which we live. While it may be easy to just follow the rules, it is the wise man that supports his own integrity and ideals by being a responsible individual. Read on to learn how to be responsible.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Pay your bills. Good credit is the hallmark of a responsible person. It is difficult to call yourself responsible when you look for a hand out or bail out because you can't support yourself. Only buy what you can afford. Live within your means.
Step2
Own up to your mistakes. By taking responsibility for your actions, both right and wrong, you are showing the world that you are a socially responsible person. Blaming others for your errors is an immature way to behave and one you should avoid.
Step3
Support the less fortunate through tithing and volunteering. Social responsibility is required if we are to remain civilized. Not everyone is responsible, and many people need help. You are sure to solidify your position in your community as well as within yourself by being generous with your time and money.
Step4
Know your limits and the true scope of your abilities. This applies to drinking, taking on risky sports or adventures, and any activity for which you need a certain skill. It is not responsible to do something, such as drive a souped-up sport bike at full speed, and end up in the hospital.
Step5
Protect yourself from unneeded stress and harm. Use contraceptives to avoid pregnancy if you are not ready for a baby. Wear a seatbelt and all the proper gear for any risky sport. Walk with friends at night. Let common sense dictate your behavior.
