3. Attend events such as the opera and ballet at which you can find other sophisticates. Increase your cultural quota. Dress appropriately for each event, and act like you belong there. Don't be awed by what you see in the elegant ladies surrounding you there. In fact, act a little bored.

4. Listen more than you talk. A slight nod in sophisticated circles says more than a long drawn out speech. You can pick up a lot of information while listening, and you look more intelligent.
